The stone medieval Loket Castle is located in a tiny town of the same name, not far from Karlovy Vary. A bend in the Ohře River resembles an elbow – this is where the fortress got its name. In the Middle Ages, the castle served as a border stronghold protecting the country from German conquerors. That is why Loket was called the “Key to the Bohemian Kingdom.”
